simplicity in form

Klara Leidl, simplicity in form, 2019, Sculpture and Catalogue

In my work of art I explore simplicity in form. I converse with Daniel McLaughlin, son of Alf Lechner and visit the Sculpture Park in Obereichstätt and the Lechner Museum in Ingolstadt.

The essay and the photo series in simplicity in form presents my first encounter with the artwork of Alf Lechner, captures his living and working space in Obereichstätt and offers an insight on the artist’s life.

An essential element of the photographs is the balance between light and shadow, creating the perfect idea to build a wooden sculpture to sit on. Its form replicates the shadow of one of Alf Lechner’s Sculptures. Visitors of the Gallery resting on the shadow can get a deeper insight by reading simplicity in form.

Sculpture

The shadow of the sculpture Skulptur Konstellation D 2, 1994, zweiteilig was captured by a drone shot. The sculpture to sit on is build on a scale of 1:5. The workpiece is made out of medium-density fibreboard and painted in a dark shade of grey. It measures about 144 x 80 x 49 cm.

Catalogue

The publication is 42 pages and printed in full colour. It measures 210 x 297mm.
